Gülnüs Ummetüllah and Adoption

Gülnüs Ummetüllah was born on the Greek island of Crete about 1640. In 1645 Turkey invaded the island and she was captured and sent back to Istanbul. When she was older she became the favorite member of Sultan Mehmet IV's harem at Edirne Sarayi, and bore him a son, who became Sultan Mustafa II of the Ottoman Empire.
