Based on a true story about NFL player Michael Oher, the film depicts how he grew up and struggled in a broken family. He was placed in foster care. He was then taken in by the Tuohy family where they develop love for him and give him a home. As they help him in school, Mrs. Tuohy suggests he tries football. He joins the football team and learns what it means to be part of a family.
This powerful movie demonstrates what can happen to foster children when they are placed in a positive adoption situation. The main points emphasized include the bonding that takes place in a loving adoptive home, and the strength that can be unlocked through effective guidance and mentoring. Sandra Bullock's role is well-played, and the other actors perform their parts well. There are moments of adult content and mild violence.
