The Dominican Republic will only consider heterosexual couples, married for five or more years between the ages of 30 and 60 years for adoption. Couples must additionally be at least 15 years older than the adopted child. No singles, homosexual or unwed couples will be considered will be as adoptive couples. The couples must comply simultaneously with the Dominican’s cohabitation Law stating that cohabitation shall be 30 days for children under 12 years of age and 30 days for adopting children over the age of 12. In 2011, five children were adopted from the Dominican Republic.
