Kellet, an energetic and curious 8-year-old from Taiwan, needs a loving family with a current home study to host him this summer through Gladney’s Taiwan Hosting Program.
Kellet was introduced through SuperKids in February 2022. Kellet enjoys drawing, storytelling, and imaginary play. He dreams of becoming a cook, enjoys exploring new places, and loves dogs and cats. Hosting Kellet could nurture his enthusiasm and creativity while providing him with an opportunity to experience a loving, US family.
What is the Taiwan Hosting Program?
The Taiwan Hosting Program is an initiative by the Gladney Center for Adoption aimed at giving older children from Taiwan an opportunity to experience family life in the United States. This program allows children to stay with host families for a few weeks during the summer while offering them the chance to live in a family environment, practice their English, and experience American culture. For the host families, it provides a meaningful way to impact a child’s life positively and potentially consider adoption.
Host families must have a current home study to be eligible for the program.
What is the Gladney Center for Adoption?
The Gladney Center for Adoption, founded in 1887, is one of the nation’s most respected adoption agencies. With a long history of connecting children with loving families, Gladney is dedicated to providing comprehensive adoption services including counseling, education, and post-adoption support. The center’s mission is to create bright futures through adoption with a focus on the long-term well-being of children and families.
Gladney’s international adoption programs, like the Taiwan Hosting Program, are designed to address the needs of older children and children with special needs who are less likely to be adopted. These programs not only offer these children a chance at a better life but also enrich the lives of the families who open their hearts and homes to them.
Why Pursue International Adoption?
International adoption plays a crucial role in providing homes for children who may otherwise spend their lives in institutional care. It offers children the chance to grow up in a loving family, receive an education, and gain access to essential medical care. For many families, international adoption is a way to open their homes and hearts to a child in need.
Children, like Kellet, who are supported through the hosting programs often have the greatest needs and the most to offer. Hosting can be the first step in the adoption process giving both the child and the family a chance to bond and determine if they are a good fit for a permanent adoption.
How Can You Help?
Hosting a child like Kellet can be a life-changing experience. It provides a nurturing environment for the child and offers the family a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact. If you are interested in hosting or adopting, the Gladney Center for Adoption provides the necessary support and resources to guide you through the process.
