Asa was born prematurely via C-Section in November 2017. He spent the first seven months of his life in the hospital and has since been in institutional care. Asa has been diagnosed with microcephaly, infantile cerebral palsy, strabismus, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. His limbs are hypertonic and he appears to have tremors. Asa has limited mobility but is able to sit and stand with support and has satisfactory head control. His movements appear uncoordinated and without purpose. He holds toys in his left hand and responds to visual and auditory stimuli. Asa makes a variety of sounds but is nonverbal. Asa’s mood is usually determined by his physical wellbeing which is difficult to maintain due to frequent viral infections. Asa fully depends on the assistance of his caretakers whom he seems to recognize and whose attention he tries to seek. Asa eats pureed foods from a bottle and sleeps well. He works daily with a physical therapist. Asa enjoys musical and light toys as well as rattles and likes listening to children’s songs. This sweet boy waits for a family who can love him unconditionally and address his complex multi-disabilities.
