Laurus

from Idaho

Meet Laurus, a very well-spoken and incredibly witty young man with a vivid imagination, a keen sense of self-awareness and a strong sense of his own personal identity. Upon meeting him, you’re sure to notice that Laurus has a real appetite for engaging in philosophical discussions. Whether they’re about something he’s super passionate about, or just about some really random thing that makes for a great conversation, it makes no difference to him! As someone who enjoys a challenge, Laurus is always up for a heated game of ping-pong, chess or Dungeons and Dragons and likes to learn and try new things. A few of his other favorite interests include drawing comics; listening to or writing music; reading Fantasy and SciFi novels; playing board games like Parcheesi; playing Minecraft and working on computer programming. Unlike a lot of teens, he’s not a huge fan of watching movies or tv, but rather prefers reading books, so that he can really immerse himself in the story. Though he doesn’t consider himself much of an outdoorsy type of a person, Laurus does enjoy some active things like riding bikes or walking around town to explore things. If you meet Laurus and are looking for a way to connect with him, a trip to the local Dairy Queen where he can partake in his favorite foods of chili cheese dogs, onion rings and a Blizzard is sure to provide an opportunity for you to get to know this incredible teen! Laurus is an extremely intelligent person who really enjoys school. He’s a Math whiz and it’s not at all unusual for him to be voluntarily doing more school work or taking even more classes than he’s required to, especially any available STEM classes that he can find. In terms of his academic path for his future, Laurus plans to attend college to study General Arts, which he hopes might prepare him for a career in one or more fields of interest such as developing video games, writing, or recording music or maybe narrating audio books. This driven teen is sure to accomplish anything he sets his mind to! Laurus’ Permanency Team describes the best fit for him as a family setting where he might be an only child or have older siblings. An intellectual family who has creative hobbies and can provide a lot of structure and a calm environment would be a wonderful match for him! Laurus is open to any kind of parental make-up but would like to have two parents. He prefers an urban/town setting as opposed to living in a rural area and describes the perfect traits in the right parents for him as being “chill, imaginative and creative.” An adoptive family who can support contact with a few of his birth family connections would go a long way towards helping Laurus continue to reconcile some of the struggles from his past, while he is moving towards what is sure to be a successful future with his adoptive family. Laurus and his team are open to hearing from Idaho families, as well as families who reside out of state, in an effort to find just the right family for him.
