Alexis (Alex) is very smart, affectionate, cute young boy who is calm most of the time. Alex is diagnosed with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy and Autism Spectrum Disorder. He requires constant nursing care, uses oxygen as needed, and has a g-button. Alexis is an affectionate and playful preschooler with a willingness to learn. He is familiar with his daily routines and plays well with others. When something out of routine happens, Alexis might cry or moan loudly. He loves books and being read to. He loves listening to music, lullabies, and nursery rhymes. He enjoys watching Mickey Mouse Club House and playing with toy cars and Tonka Trucks. Alex just loves to hang out with his nurses and caregivers. He knows his routine well, will try to help with some of the tasks and is very cooperative. By sounding out, Alex can read about 6 to 8 words with three letters. Alexis has a v-tech toy showing animals on the screen, and he can identify the first letter of the animal depicted on the screen.
