Micah from Texas

Micah is a sweet and affectionate child. He enjoys being outdoors, and his favorite thing to do is swing. Micah is exceptionally active and can swing and climb extremely high. He is friendly and gets along well with other children. Micah is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Although Micah is non-verbal, he relates to others through eye contact, facial expressions, body language, hugs, and physical affection. He is also able to use language boards to communicate and often uses the boards to assist in school. Micah can become anxious and agitated with loud noises. Micah is energetic and often fidgets. Micah develops strong relationships with his caregivers and teachers and enjoys attending school and outings in the community. Micah loves the water during warmer weather, especially splash pads and swimming pools. Micah also enjoys animals and loves to visit local zoos and drive-thru safaris. Micah has a daily ritual of going outside and hunting for the perfect stick each day; he will explore the wooded areas, looking for the perfect branch each morning and carry that stick around throughout the day. Micah will benefit from a family with nurturing and patient parents who will assist him in advocating for his needs. His family will be a loving and nurturing family who will be committed to him and help him learn new things. Micah will thrive with a family that has training and experience working with children with special needs. He needs structure and stability in a safe, loving home. Micah requires assistance with some daily living activities. He is able to follow simple instructions, but has difficulty accepting changes in his routine, especially in regard to his caregivers and teachers. He requires constant supervision for his safety.
