Primal Wound replied on Archive's thread "a birth sibling perspective on rejection".
I'm adopted. I love both my mothers. I expect to be treated like a daughter by both of them.I'm glad you're wanting to be honest with your brother but some of the things that you've said and other people have replied to you really hurt me to my core. When your mother gave up a child for adoption, she surrended only the legal right to raise that child. All humans should have the basic human right of having the opportunity of knowing who they are genetically related to and determining for themselves how important that is for them.

Adoptions are PASTELS:
full of both the beauty of colors yet also dimmed by a degree of sadness.
Why would an at birth adoption hurt the adoptee?
Why don't adoptees tell anyone?
Why has the medical field been so wrong for so long?
I think I have the answers. Maybe not.
But maybe my story will help at least one other person heal.

A resource for Health Classes discussing unplanned pregnancies, emphasizing open adoptions from the viewpoint of an adoptee. Adoptees are humans. They deserve to be treated as such. Their voices deserve to be heard. It's time we start talking more about the secret sadness of adoptions. There is a better way.

I just wanted to reply to thread. I don't think I've done that correctly forgive me. Do the children not get a voice here? I am adopted. I have a BS in Elementary Education and I have Early Education Credentials.A human that is adopted will have multiple parents their entire lives. If you try to erase or replace any of my parents birth or adopted you try to erase part of me. And that isn't fair. Birds are the only animal that imprints onto the first thing they see. Expecting me not to mourn the loss of my first parents is expecting me to be subhuman. Google identity development. An infant knows that it is a separate entity from the mother between 12-18 months. Having your first emotional attachment forever severed is a tough life experience. If you have to do that to a child there better be a good reason. Closed adoptions should be the exception not the rule. If you're not up for that, get a puppy. Everyone else, go read The Primal Wound. First Mothers and Second Mothers you are both my mothers. You are both important to me. Please figure out how to get along. I will need both of you to be a team.

There are settings online where you can opt out of seeing someone's posts for a while without unfriending them. If they decide that seeing your posts are too painful they may do that. You could also reach out and ask them if they would prefer to be on a different privacy settings where you exclude them from seeing the photos.
