To adopt any child, you must complete the homestudy requirements for the State. In order to do so you must have physical wherein the doctor verifies your competency, health wise, to adopt/raise a child. Consult with your doctor and if he/she is willing to sign papers to same, you shouldn't encounter any problems ... other than certain limits regarding what disabilities you may be able to accept ... i.e., if the strokes affected your lifting capabilities - you would not have a child in a wheel chair placed with you.
Hope this helps!

I to am disabled and want to adopt a child.
So I have done alot of studying on this matter
and all I can say is thank God for the American with Disabilities Act .
If your doctor says you are fit to parent a child.
Then they will have a very hard time denying you due to your disabilities.
I recomend reading on the law to do so
go to www.adoptionlaws.org should be the info you need listed there.
Thanks take care good luck and may God bless.
