I am a birthmother doing a study about birthmothers. Are you a birthmother in Ontario that wants to share their experience? The following study may interest you.....
A Study of Birthmothers' Experiences of Open and Closed Adoptions
My name is Krista Jones and I am a Master of Arts student in the Psychology Department at Carleton University in Ottawa. I am also a birthmother. I am currently completing my thesis and I am looking for birthmothers who relinquished their child within the past 20 years who are interested in taking part in a one to two hour interview. In the interviews, which will ideally be tape recorded, birthmothers will be asked about a) the circumstances surrounding their decision to relinquish their child and the nature of any arrangements for future contact with the child, b) their experiences, feelings, coping strategies and contact with their child both after the adoption and now, and c) anything about them or their circumstances that makes whatever amount of contact they have with their child a positive or negative experience for them.
As I need to complete the interviews in person, I am looking for participants who live in the Toronto or Ottawa areas. If you would like more information or are interested in participating, please contact me at kjones2@chat.carleton.ca. Please feel welcome to forward this email on to any other birthmothers who you think may be interested in the study.
Thanks.
