Does this sound strange to you? Im tryin to figure out if Im adopted. My BC was signed by the Doctor in 1951 ,7 days AFTER my birth. My birth was supposivly March 21,1951 and the Doctor signed it March 28, 1951.I looked in the law book for 1951 and it stated the Doctor must sign the BC within 72 hours after the birth.I also have a hospitol receipt(with no parents name on it) that states my mother was in the hospitol for 5 days. So this means the Doctor did not sign the BC till AFTER my mother left the Hospitol!? Also the Hospitol baby footprints signiture place for the Doctor was not signed. And get this...For my Birth Records...from the Hospitol that my Doctor filed for...States that THERE WAS NO JANET ____ ____ BORN IN THAT HOSPITOL on 3-21-1951. Make any sense to you?
Can you give me some more information? where do you think you were born? I am ISO a sister that I believe does not know she is adopted. I have heard that the family she was adopted into was able to change her BC. She was born 8/11/51. I do know that her name at birth was Claire Rose Reisinger and that her adoptive parents either moved or already lived Fla.

Hello Donna Lee...I am searching for answers because I think my Aunt is my mother. I m pretty sure I was born in Michigan. My family is so secretive about things in the past ...that I have to keep digging...to get the answers I need. But I will tell you that I did have a uncle that was a attorney that was thrown in prison for his unlawfullness. And he used to change Birth Certificates! My cousins out of Battle Creek are missing 2 babys between the years of 1948 and 1952 and 1 before 1947.We also are searching for one baby born in 1940s in Sparrow Hospitol in Lansing. And 2 little blond girls adopted out legally or ? in Muskegon Michigan in the mid 40s.Anything sound familiar? Janet
Wow, when you first started posting about this, I thought maybe you were just being paranoid... but it sounds like your suspicions are on target. I guess there's no possibility of you asking your parents or your aunt to submit to a DNA test, since the whole family is so intent on keeping the secret. But what about blood types? Can you find out your parents blood types (tell them your doctor's office needs to know, or your medical insurance or something) and find out if yours matches? I realize there are only a few different blood types, but there's always the off-chance that their types are totally different than yours, which would prove that they aren't your biological parents.
The thing is, even if you DO manage to prove it, then what? Will you confront your family with the proof? It sounds like they will just continue to deny it in the face of all evidence. Or do you just want to find out for your own peace of mind?
What you've already found out (hospital records) is enough to make me think something is very fishy. It sounds to me like you probably were adopted. Do you have any particular reason for thinking your aunt is your Bmom, or is it just a feeling?
I'm sorry your family is being so secretive and not understanding your need to know these things. I wish you the best, and hope you are able to gather enough conclusive evidence to put the matter to rest, at least in your own mind.
Best of luck ~ Sharon
Hi Sharon,Thank you for the validation! There are so many reasons I think my aunt is my mom and my brothers mom. I have so many childhood memories, about things said, about what was said to me, about my little brother. And the only way that any of it makes sense..is if ..my Aunt is my mom and my brothers mom. There are many pictures(that my Aunt had) that freaked me right out...because I could remember what I was thinking at the time ...the pictures were taken. My older sister even knew she was holding her cousin in a picture...until I informed her that was not her cousin...her cousin was not born yet. THAT WAS MY BROTHER. It is very confusing to people listening to this. There is so much more..my parents even tried to give me to a Uncle when I was in 5th grade. But he didnt want me. So by 7th grade I lived at a girlfriends house, then at a friend of my fathers, and did my mom or dad come to get me....No ....STRANGE! As far as DNA..I checked out the prices and NO WAY! Blood type? All involved are O-. The twist here...because of all my checking and pulling different records...is...............I DONT THINK MY AUNT IS MY MOM'S SISTER...I THINK ITS HER DAUGHTER. THEREFORE if Im right...I was raised by my grandma. Shes 86 now, and no Im done confronting her. I just dont mention any of it around her anymore. As far as my Aunt shes 71...and she knows what I think. She even thinks now that mom might be her mom! She asked me who I think her dad was! Haha isnt this nuts! I supplied her with 2 names. I need the truth. Ive lived with lies all my life.To me the truth belongs to God...the lies belong ....you know where. Thanks for listening. It feels good to be heard! Hugs Janet
Janet, your story is well... as confusing as mine. It is believed that my fathers brother is the father to the sister that I am trying to locate. When I ask questions no one seems to know anything. I feel your frustration. I would give anything to find my sister. Are you sure you were born in Michigan? Do you look like your aunt? As far as I know most of relatives are from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Mass., New Jersey & Pennsylvania. I have not heard of any of them living in Michigan. I don't know why the older generation are so secretive. I don'e blame my mother for what she did. I would just like to meet my sister. Keep me posted. Donna Lee

Hair127...Hi there! I was just wondering what book you looked in to find out how long after a birth the doctor is supposed to sign the birth certificate. I was born in Utah so I was just wondering if the book had a certain title. The date on my BC by the doctor that signed it is dated four YEARS after I was born. I'm just starting my search and until now I have never really looked at my BC, but now that I have it is really strange. I have many questions about my BC's authenticity. My amothers words keep going through my head, "never lose this birth certificate. It is the only one that exists". Hmm!?Lol. I have sent for a copy. Thanks for replying back! Good luck to you! loves.buggs

Hello! I went to the Public Library and looked it up in the State of Michigan Law Books under Birth Certificates or County Clerk. What BC do you have? The Original (with Birth mothers name) on it or...the Bc made for your Adoptive parents with their name on it? Also..you can go to the library in your town(if they have a genelogy dept) and find the Legal News from about the time your BC stated you were adopted. See if you can find the court proceedings. Were you adopted at 4 years old? That is called a delayed BC. Put Delayed Birthcertificate into your search engine and see where it brings you! I also filed in the Records Dept at the Hospitol and asked for any records pretaining to my birth. Dont say anything about "ADOPTION" they wont give them to you. We wrote down for Reason needing them is that I was trying to find out if I had a problem medically when I was born. Your Doc can also do this for you. Mine did. God be withy you! and Hugs! Hair127
HI
I am an adoptee who found out that my Bmom was my aunt and I can tell you first hand that MANY documents were fudged back then. I was n a wild goose chase when all I had was a baptsimal record with FALSIFIED information and FICTIOUS names signed by a priest and recorded in church records. Had it not been for a SW who took interest in me when I requested my non -id (she practically told me over the phone who Bmom was) I would still be searching.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that during that time period so many documents were falsified to keep things secret thinking they were protecting people. You won't be the first person who was adopted by family as it was VERY common back then. I know a girl that grew up thinking her Grandma was her Momma and her Momma her sister. There was so much shame in single women getting pregnant and even worse giving a baby up for adoption especially in certain cultures that for the right price anyone would lie and sign their name to it.
Family doctors and priest were especially notorious for this with no regard to the law. They really thought the were helping "right" a "wrong" which is even more of an insult but that is a whole nother thread/rant.
I don't know how you family is but is there any way you could ask? For me even with my knowledge and non -id in hand members of my Bfamily still denied it and called me crazy with exception to one person who validated my findings, Bsibs insisted I was "crazy" and accused me of trying to "claim" their mother.
At any rate I say, if you have this gut feeling and have a document that makes no sense, then there is a strong possibility you are right. Of course that doctor and so many of the players that took part in those falsifications are more than likely deseased or too old to recollect but t is definately worth pursuing. I happened to get lucky and met a woman who worked at the church/office where the nuns took care of the babies who was of great help.
I hope you are able to sort this all out and find the truth, there is nothing more liberating than to find answers.
