Requesting Non-Identifying Information: Non-identifying information is available to adopted adults and adoptive parents or legal guardians of adoptees. Birth parents may leave updated information in files.

Requesting Identifying Information: Identifying information is provided through an Adoption Registry.

Using the State of Connecticut Adoption Registry: State law requires each agency to maintain an adoption registry. Adopted adults age 18 or older can receive identifying information on their birth parents if the birth parents have filed their consent with the registry. If consent is not on file, the birth parents will be contacted for consent. Birth parents and birth siblings can receive identifying information regarding the adopted adult if consent is on file. If consent is not on file, a search will be conducted for the adopted adult age 18 or older to obtain consent to release information to the birth parents.

Requesting an Original Birth Certificate: An adoptee must petition the court in which the adoption was finalized to receive.

I just called to speak with someone about registering and am waiting for them to call back. I appreciate your info and would welcome any that you may have or anyone else. I was in a home for unwed mothers, Woodfield, and gave birth in Bridgeport Hospital in April 41969.

This process is all so new to me and I find it all so overwhelmeing. If I'm repeating myself, please excuse me.

I had no, absolutely no, choice in that very important and life changing part of me. I didn't think I had any right, but just want her to know that I'm here and would welcome her in my life if she would have me.
