My husband and I were just married 2 months ago, but we've been together for 2 years. We've always wanted to adopt and have been discussing it for about a year now because he is unable to have children. My question is he's in the air force and I was just wondering if there's like a minimum age requirement to adopt? I'm 19 and he's 23. Are we old enough to adopt? And also who do we go through on base to start the process of adoption?

Hi, congratulations on your new marriage. Usually you have to be 21 to adopt and it is required that you are married a significant amount of time. I agree with the preivous post, you are young and newly married you should be enjoying your time as a couple. We are a military couple, we were married three years before we starting discussing having kids. You need to become comfortable as a military wife and know the ins and outs of the military before you add children to the mix.
If you're considering domestic parental placement adoption, age is not generally an issue. The length of your marriage may be, however. Most home study providers won't recommend a couple who has been married less than a year, they prefer 2-3 years generally.
I'd recommend you use this time to learn about the different options in adoption, build up your 'nest egg', and enjoy married life.
Some good books on domestic parental placement:

Dear Birthmother by Kathleen Silber
DH was AD/USN (just retired 31 May) when we started our adoption plan. We began by setting a savings goal of $10,000. We did it within a year by cutting back a few (not all) expenses, asking friends & family for baby fund contributions in lieu of gifts at Christmas/birthdays, having garage sales and telling everyone who came that we were raising funds for adoption fees (got quite a few 'keep the change' and a few outright donations), and selling stuff on eBay. Also have heard friends who've had home shows for things like Homemade Gourmet, CandleLite, Mary Kay, etc. and had the proceeds donated to their adoption fund. Many distributors will help this way I think.
HTH, hang in there.
