Searching for sibling(s)- I was born 04/28/51 at St. Rosalia's. Believe mother, Maggie Kolek, was from Natrona Heights/ Tarentum/Brackenridge area. Father, William Poundstone. My a aunt helped arrange adoption with my bgrandmother. Any info, please!
I found a listing for a Martin Kolek in Natrona Heights. Do you think he could be some relation? It's sometimes difficult to find women because they often marry and change their last names... sometimes it's easier to find them through their male relatives, who at least keep the same last name.
Anyway, I found the Martin Kolek listing at USSearch.com... go to this link and click on his name. His phone number and address are available for $9.95.
Best wishes, Sharon

I was also born at St Rosalia's in Pittsburgh in 1966. Back in 1990 I located a nun from Greensburg, PA who is the keeper of the birth records from St Rosalia's. I spoke with her on the phone and she had me send her a letter with all the information I knew about myself and my birth mother. With the help of Sister Phillips, I was able to find my birth mother. Maybe she could be of assistance to you also. Let me know if you would like the address and more information regarding this matter.
Best of luck!!
Thank you so much. I would really appreciate any info you are willing to share. I just found my adoption papers today for the finalization orphans court and now I am positive how my mothers last name was spelled! This has been on e great day!!!!!! Thank you soooo much! Terry
Terry,
I am so happy to play a small part in trying to help you locate your birth family! The address you need is
Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill
DePaul Center
Mt. Thor Road
Greensburg, PA 15601-1293
Phone (412)836-0406
The sister's name that helped me was Sister Esther Marie Phillips. Her title was Secretary of the Congregation and Custodian of Roselia Birth Records. I sent her my birthdate, birth name and my birth mother's name and got back all the info I needed to locate my birth mother's family along with the time I was born, height, weight where my birth mother was from and general information about the family, birth grandparents names and the name of my birth mother's sister. It gave me great joy to learn all the things I had always wondered about, and now you are on the same journey.
I must also tell you back in 1990 when I found my birth mother it was a very happy reunion and my mom and dad played a huge part in helping me find her by my mom being nosey at the lawyers office back in 1966 and looking at the paperwork and remembering the name St. Rosalia's for all those years. My parents are two amazing people, and the first time I met with my birth mother, my mom and dad didn't hesitate to invite her into their home. I still remember my dad telling my birth mother how proud he and my mom were to get this beautiful little girl to love. I was the lucky one!
I'm saying a prayer that you get all the help you need in your search. I do have to admit it is funny that the day I type in St. Rosalia's on my computer, this web page comes up and I see other people who were born at the same place as I was, and you find your adoption papers with the correct spelling of your birth mother's name. Like they say...."The Lord works in mysterious ways."
Keep me posted....I wish you all the luck in the world.

You are very lucky to have such a great family that would help you so much, and then having such a happy reunion! I was fortunate in that I always knew I was adopted, but it was not until I was in college that I was told I had a step brother, and while I was growing up he had only lived a mile away. I would like to meet him, but my fear is that he does not know about me. I also do not know if he had the same last name as my mother or possibly she remarried and his name was changed. But that is what a search is all about. I am hoping to call the number you gave me tomorrow. I just hope I ask the right questions and do not scare them off! I am very excited!! Thank you again and I will keep you posted! Terry
I just joined the site and was so glad to see your post. My nephew needs to find his birth father for medical reasons. He was born at Rosalie home on June 1, 1964.and his birth name was William Lewis Stewart. Bless you for posting the address and phone number. His birth mother refuses to help him at all. Perhaps this is the break we need to help him get a chance for a better life.
