Hello everyone,
I just found this web site and I am so happy that I did! We are in the process of fostering to adopt a 14 year old girl that we know. I have been seeing her every weekend for the past 4 weeks. I met her because my friend was dating her foster mother's son.
We still do not have our foster care license so she has to stay with the family she is currently with until then. I just found out yesterday that one lady (going through the same county's agency that I am) has been waiting over 8 months for her license. I just hope it doesn't take that long. She will be 15 in March and I really would like her to become a part of our family as soon as possible.
I have twin girls that are 10 and they really like her and she them. I think she will fit into our family so well. I was very nervous and scared for months but the more I see her and get to know her the better I feel.
I could go on and on but I'll save some for later, lol. I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to everyone. It's nice to find a place with others that are going through the same thing.
At that age you may want to take a look at the book, Attaching in Adoption by Deborah Gray as it is most likely that the child has attachment difficulties.
Regards and glad you are here. Feel free to post questions, comments, and anything else you want.

I have been reading all types of messages boards, web sites, and articles. I am currently reading the book "Our Own". I have also been visiting chat rooms about adoption and foster care. The book has really helped me tremendously!! I have about 6 other books from the library I plan to read and will add the one you mentioned to my list.
I am just so glad that I have all these resources!!
