Don't believe everything people tell you regarding the Indian Child Welfare Act. Oftentimes, the social workers and attorneys themselves know very little about it. Educate yourselves on the Act. Read it and learn it. Know everything about it. Don't let anyone try to feed you lies. Pray, fight and pray some more. That's what we did and we won -- we adopted two boys against the wishes of the tribe and against the wishes of the social workers. I personally do not see how it is in a child's best interests to have his/her custody determined by a few drops of Indian blood when that is his/her only connection to the tribe. It makes no sense and does nothing to right the wrongs that led to the passage of the Act in the first place.
