I was just wondering... for those of you who are more experienced with Panama, or those that already have referrals. Can you get a referral of an infant? How long do you have to usually wait for such a referral? I have some agencies telling me that you can only adopt 2yo or older...and others claiming that you can get an infant. Anyone that can shed some light on this I would appreciate it. Anyone who wants to email me can do that as well

Renn,
Congratulations on your referral... How exciting!!! It takes a few days to adjust to receiving a referral. We too got something different than what we were expecting, wanted a toddler and received a referral of a 6 week old.
We have had our referral for a couple of months and are still waiting for the final word to travel. We expect to travel around the 17th of this month. Then we will be returning in January for the finalization of the adoption.
Once you receive your final dates on tavel, let us know. We might be in Panama at the same time.
You have my e-mail address, so feel free to e-mail me directly.

Our agency is telling us not to expect to get to bring him home during the first trip. They do not want us to expect it and then be upset that it does not happen. It appears from various posting on this site that the process is not very firm on what actually will happen. We are praying to bring him home during the first trip. We will keep you posted.

Hello and welcome to the Panama forum!
The two agencies who are the most experienced and active in Panama are World Partners and Commonwealth.
We are with World Partners and are very pleased. I have also heard good things about Commonwealth.
PM me if you want more details about World Partners.

My DH and I recently got a referral for a toddler 28 months (boy) we are adopting through Commonwealth. We hope to go to Panama Dec. 1. We also had requested an infant and than decided to look into adopting two children a toddler and an infant, and we were matched with him, we are truly thrilled and can't wait to meet him. Our experience has been good with CAI so far, I will keep you all posted as it unfolds:)

I do have a picture or our new son, and he is so so cute (a little bias as a new mom, huh:) I would post it but I have no idea how to do that. I am going to set up a site for my family to visit when we are in Panama with pictures and updates. I will let you know what it if you would like. First I have to figure out how to set it up, but if that works that is what we plan:)

Just in case you want to give it a shot- I think it's fairly easy to attach a picture to a post. You simply either choose reply to post or start a new thread, and down below where you type the text of your message , there's a header in the left column that says Attach File. Next to it you will see the browse button. Hit that browse button and go to where the picture is stored on your computer. You highlight that picture and select it- voila, it is attached. Of course this only works if the picture is stored on your PC in a usable format like jpeg, gif, tif etc...
Now if someone would be the guinea pig to see if this will work- we can all post pictures when we get our referrals!
Best, Kirsten

Attaching pics...
OK, it's been alot of years since I've had a math class, but is "102400 bytes" (which is the limit for picture attachments) about 102 kilobytes (you can usually resize a picture down to 50 or so kilobytes), or is it only 10 kilobytes (a picture would have to be very tiny for that size!!!)?
I tried uploading my computer wallpaper as a test, but it's 160 KB---too big.
Hey ladies,
I really don't think it is a good idea to post our sons picture on this site yet due to the fact that he is not legally ours and Panama does have issues with having there children posted on public websites, I just think we should hold off till he is legally ours and that we can share more:) I will continue to keep you all posted and updated.
