When we were adopting in Colombia, our in-country representative in Medellin took us everywhere we wanted to go which included official adoption appointments and touristic activities. The representative in Bogota, Colombia arranged for a driver which we paid by the hour to take us to our necessary appointments. CAI informed us that they arrange for transportation to official appointments in Panama. We did not inquire about touristic activities because we do not have that need. However, I would hope that agencies would provide this for families at least within the city.
When our friends adopted in China, they did a lot of touring around the area. They had index cards with the name and addresses of where they wanted to go and the hotel where they were staying. We thought this was a good idea for people who do not know the language. Even though there are many Panamanians that speak English, most taxi drivers do not.
El Dorado is about 10-15 min drive to the downtown area where the city buildings are located depending on the traffic of course.
