Meaning I am not able to change the ticket any way! The stuck me with a ticket that is worthless. So Everyone,,,, PLEASE READ and ask for CERTAIN! I even had a travel agent book that flight!
Thank you for the info. I found out that NorthWest offers adoptive parents the ability to change flights. Anyone have anything on KLM? I heard they have great flight deals.

Northwest/KLM are partners and they offer adoptive families who are adopting from Eastern Europe reduced airfares. I think they call the program Special Delivery. They are a wonderful airline - even without this consideration - but even moreso with it. Check them out online. I think you have to present your dossier letter to qualify for the reduced fare. Good luck.
We used KLM (booked through NW's program) for our trips to Russia in June to complete adoption of our son. Cost was about $1000 per RT ticket - a good deal for a changeable, refundable ticket travelling during peak tourist season. The airline treats these as full fare coach seats - so there are almost always seats available. You will need to call their "special services" number to book the tickets (can't do this online or at their regular phone#) - you'll need your agency name, the date your initial INS processing was complete, and the city it was sent to (this is on the form you get from INS). All the info is taken over the phone. We made changes to our return on all 3 trips (why we had to make 3 trips instead of the usual 2 is a long story), with no hassles. The 3rd trip was booked with just 5 days notice - again no problem. The KLM staff in the offices in Russia and Amsterdam were great.
Thank you, thank you. This information will definitely be handy and I will take your advices. Congratulations on your safe and happy return.
