I am a white male born 1/31/59 in Washington, DC, adopted at approx. 10 months old in MD. I'm just beginning this search and can use some help findig my birth parents. I believe my birthmother may have been young and birthfather in the service. I was adopted by a wonderful couple - mom is straight from England. I don't want anything from my birth parents - just to know who they are and to say that I'm doing fine. Thank you.

Emockli, You can file a petition to the court asking they have a confidential intermediary do a search to contact and request approval to release info to you. I am sure you will have to pay but it should be a flat rate - note I could be wrong on it costing. The petition my mom filed in Washington was just answers to questions on a form. The link describes the law and tells you who to contact - they will point you to the right place. There are other ways to search as well including the reunion registry on this site (post your search as well) - see Reunite tab above and the ISRR.net reunion registry you submit your search too.
