New York Statewide Adoption Reform (NYSAR)
is working to unseal adoption records in New York state.
NYSAR's bill would give adoptees the right to their original birth certificate at 18 or before with the consent of their adoptive parents. The bill would give birth mothers the right to state a contact preference that becomes part of the records and which she may change at any time.
Hello All:
Hope this finds everyone well.
NYSAR has now set Tuesday, March 16 to lobby for our New York State Bill of Adoptee Rights - Assembly Bill # A06238; Senate Bill # S02631.
It is so vital that we make a strong and unified showing to finally reach success this year, so:
. PLEASE join us in Albany.
. Contact the legislators to gain their support...Most importantly, the members of the Assembly Judiciary Committee and the Senate Health Committee, Assembly Majority Leader, Sheldon Silver and Senate Majority Leader, Joseph Bruno.
Details with names, etc., can be found on our web site: http://www.unsealedinitiative.org and/or the respective NYS legislative web sites:
http://assembly.state.ny.us and http://www.senate.state.ny.us.
. Please get the word out to as many people as possible.
If you have any questions and/or comments, please feel free to contact me by email or phone me at: 212-787-3799.
With my very best regards,
Ellen
