Hello,
I am new to this fourm and excited I found it!
I adopted my son 2 years ago. My husband and I did a domestic adoption and were lucky enough to be in the room when my son was born, I even cut the cord!
Unfortunatly, our adoption cost over $10,000 when all was said and done. We are now wanting to adopt a second child, but just can not begin to figure out where to get the money. We went through major financial hardship after our son was born and we are now back on our feet. My question is, does anyone out there know of a grant or a loan for parents who want to adopt. Our credit is now in poor standing, but on its way back. We desperatly want to adopt again and if we try to save the money for the adoption it will take forever. We think now is the perfect time for our son to have a sibiling.
Any suggestions or help would be very much appreciated
Thanks
Susan (New York State)

Cutting costs (lifestyle adjustments) and raising funds are your best bet. There are grants available, but they take a while to receive and the odds are not good considering how many people apply and the limited funds the foundations are working with.
You can get several shapes and sizes of loans thqat you can access, but remember the more you borrow, the more you have to worry about having to pay back later. So be wary. Remember, the tax credit is much better than it was two years ago and you can count on that and any employer benefits you have access to for paying back loans if necessary.
Hope this helps.
