I am using a private attorney. He says he knows a few lds couples who are using him for his services. I thought the lds people always used the lds social services but I guess I was mistaken.

Hi,
Actually, I know quite a few instances where LDS families did not use LDS FS. One reason is because there is currently a 2 child limit, meaning you can only adopt or have 2 children. Those who have already adopted or had 2 children have to go through another agency unless it is a designated adoption.(the 2 child limit doesn't apply in designated adoption) Other LDS people have used other agencies because reasons like wanting a more open adoption (LDS FS historically does semi-open and closed adoptions, although that has changed some recently) or just because of preference for a certain social worker or agency.
It really just comes down to personal preference. I beleive the reason most people go through LDS FS is because of the religious connection and the lower costs.
Happy Friday!
