Hi there. I hope someone might know the answers to my questions.
I've been looking into adopting from Georgia, and have been finding conflicting information. Some info indicates that foreign adoptions have been suspended. Other places say that the laws have changed, and they no longer allow private adoptions, therefore one cannot adopt an infant under 6 months anymore. And other adoption agency sites state they re still doing the private adoptions.
Which is right? I realize sites may be out of date, leading to the confusion. We would like to adopt an infant as young as possible, but also do not want to do anything illegal, of course. What is the current situation in Georgia, does anyone know?
Thanks,
Kelly

It's been a few weeks to a month, but I did recently check with a reputable agency about the current situation in Georgia. According to the agency I spoke with they do expect adoptions to resume shortly in Georgia. However, the babies will no longer be in private foster care they will be in orphanages. They will also need to be on a registry for about 6 months, so it will not be possible to adopt a baby under 6 months of age.
Hopefully there are others who can shed further light on the current situation in Georgia. Good luck with your search.
