I have just received non-identifying info. about my birthfamily/adoption. I just found out that I was adopted thru Nassau County Social Services, on Long Island in New York. I, myself have hired a search firm to find info on my birthfamily, but nothing has come up yet, and it has been almost a year of searching. I just want to know is there something that I have not done? I know that I was born in St. Charles hospital and that my ** was 15 1/2 when she had me, and that my bf does does not know that she was pregnant.
I just spoke with the social worker that sent me the info, and I could tell that she was dying to tell me something, but the law prevents her from doing so. She did say that b/c my ** was so young that most info would have been thru her parents ( my grandparents)
I just really need to know something..I read so many wonderful stories in the forum of reunions, and I just don't know much of anything about my past. If anyone reads this and any of this rings a bell..please contact me. I understand that most likely, my ** has moved on and has a family of her own and most prob. did not tell her family about me, I just want to know that she is ok..tell her I am ok and grew up in a wonderful family. Do I have siblings? I was very sick w/cancer in '87 and would like to know if I will get sick again.
Any info would be so wonderful to me! If anyone has advice on what my next step could be..please fill me in!

Are you still searching? If so you can write to Nassau County Surrogate Court and request a copy of the final Order of Adoption. The name you had before adopted should be on that. I was directed to do this by a search angel and I had the document with my name including my birthmothers last name within a week and a half. I think I still have a copy of the letter I wrote if you want a sample just write to katchatiger@hotmail.com.

Your fortunate your adoption was in Nassau County it's the only county in New York that will give you that document.
