I am about 45 minutes from Philly area. Not far from King of Prussia- but also know the Willow Grove area !
Well, we are in the waiting game, too, and waiting for our third adoption as well. I thought the waiting would get easier, and in some ways it has, but in others it hasn't. It seems that the "itch" always comes back as fierce as ever when it's time to adopt again! Add to that a failed adoption one month ago today which broke our hearts, and the waiting seems very, very long. But we are so blessed with our girls and know that the wait will be worth it when God brings the next child our way!
Best wishes to you on your journey!
I would love to talk to anyone from the Pittsburgh area or Greensburg, Murrysville, Monroeville or anywhere in the surrounding areas. If you know of any foster/adopt support groups in these areas. Nanci

Hello I am from Pittsburgh - Penn Hills area. We are waiting for our daughter - have not been matched yet - but are in the waiting game and probably have a wait this time because we are being gender specific.
I would love to chat - do not know of any support groups in my area

Hello Alissa, I 'm glad to hear from people really close by. I work in Monroeville and have lived in this area all my life. How long have you been in the adoption process?. Sounds like you want a girl also. Nanci
Yes I am waiting to adopt a daughter - the agency we are working with places from the hospital - which am I am really excited about. I am hoping that it happens as quick as my son did. We waited 6 months from start to finish (homestudy to day he came home) I am hoping that we are that blessed this time - but with us wanting a girl - I am not sure that will happen. I was not really patience the first time and not sure that I will have any more patience this time. People used to tell me that the 2nd time was easier. Well it is not for me - the only difference with this time is that I know what to expect but other than that still the same anxiousness. I do not know how people wait over a year or more - I would go insane.
I think I saw that you are adopting a 15 year old daughter - how is that going?

Thats wonderful haw fast your first adoption went. How old is your first child? I wish you lots of luck on your dauhter and hope it goes quickly as well. I just brought my new daughter home for the weekend, and I enjoy her more with each visit. Last weekend was my first and I'll admit it was a strange to have another person actually living with us. Tonite on the ride here, which was three hours, we had a nice conversation and it was much more relaxed. She communicates very well and I like that about her, in fact, I like a lot about her. I hope when the honeymoon is over she'll be a nice as she is now. Its hard not to like her. We'll see what this weekend brings. Again, good to hear from neighbors in Pgh. Nanci
I hope that when the honeymoon is over that she is just as nice. I am sure that she will have the normal teenager issues that is for sure. My adopted son is 3 years old. But my husband has 4 other children - 24 years old, 17 years old, 16 years old, 10 years old. (None of them live with us except for our 3 year old.) But the teenagers are the hardest ones - because we are no longer "smart" our 17 year old and 16 year old think we are the stupidest people on the planet earth. It is funny though - I remember my mom telling that one day I will see how she felt and now I do. It is amazing how history repeat itself. :) Have a wonderful weekend with your newest daughter!!

My husband and I are in the prosess of starting the adoption process. We have our orientation meeting next tuesday at "Rejoice Inc. " in Harrisburgh, but hopefully will be adopting 4 beautiful children from Pittsburgh. Cheryl:)
Went for orientation yesterday. Everything is moving smoothly and quickly. Next step is training, two days, third weekend of this month. Back to Harrisburg. Rejoice!Inc has been sooo helpful, as has SWAN. After our training, the home study begins!
We are soooo excited. Good luck to you all, and may God's love shine upon you.

I think that I saw those four beautiful children on the site and they are beautiful. I'm glad that you are going to try for a sibling group. Im sure theywant to keep those kids together. I was also looking for siblings, but two at the most. Once I get Jess settled, Im going to adopt another girl, maybe just a little younger, say 13 or 14. First I need to be sure she is on track. The last few days have been pretty good and hopefully it will continue. It's much easier now that she's finally in school. God Bless and Keep me updated. Nanci
