Does any one know where I could get a homestudy done in the snohomish county. I have looked it up in the phone book and nothing was there. Hopefully someone has some idea on who to talk to. I found one homestudy but the guy was a distance from me and was going to charge almost a grand to do one study.
Anyone????????
Hello, Are you doing an independent adoption? Or are you using an agency? If you are going to be using an agency they should provide the homestudy. If you are going through the state they too provide the homestudy. If you are going in dependent I know of a lady that does homestudies. We where going to use her but ended up going through the state instead. But A freind of ours used her and said she was great. I am not sure what areas she works out of, but if you like I can e-mail you or private msg you her information, if she doesn't work in your area maybe she can suggest someone who does.

Hey sent you that e-mail, you might want to come back on and edit your post so it doesn't show your e-mail, tat way you don't get a bunch of spam.
I went to edit the prior message but there is a time limit on it so I had to shoot an email to the editor and hopefully they can fix it for me. Atleast now I know you can only delete things for 60 min after posting them.
A thousand dollars is a very normal price for an adoption home study.
However, the home studies for step parent adoption are usually shorter and don't require quite the same amount of preparation and checking, so they usually cost less. Be sure that anyone you talk to about an adoption home study knows it's for a step parent adoption - you want someone who is experienced in that and understands the differences (and who has those differences reflected in the price, of course).
Now, it's possible that regular home studies in your area cost close to TWO thousand dollars, and what you're being quoted is indeed the reduced step-parent home study. Sometimes it is a case of you get what you pay for, so see if you can find other people who do them and see what prices you are being quoted. A bargain price isn't a bargain if your study can't be scheduled for several months, your worker cancels several scheduled meetings, and he writes the study with some inaccuracies.
You can always call some adoption agencies in your area and see if they do their own homestudies. Their own workers may be experienced in providing those services for stepparent adoption even if you don't use any other of the agency's services.
Good luck!

I looked up homestudys in the local phone books and the near counties there was none there. I contacted a couple of adoption agency's and asked them about homestudies and they all pretty much told me the same thing that unless i am adopting through their agency then they cant help. That is why i kept getting frusterated when I have my daugh. and we just want the stepparent adoption.
Thank you for your reply
I am still working, digging, calling. It seems to be stressful but I keep looking at the end result and say to myself that is worth everything.
:)
Hi Lostpuppy
I had an indept adoption and live in WA it was only a total of less than 1k to do it which included pre and post adoption. I am not sure but I think May was talking about us and sent the ladies info that we used (hi May) she is really good and has been doing this for a long time. I really like her. She was quick and effecient.(sp)
Good luck to you.

I am trying to do the whole stepparent adoption for under a grand. I know that people said that it is possible but I dont have any other resorces (financially) for more than that. I get rembersed for the adoption after it is all said and done. (I am totaly grateful for that). If you want to privite message to me or send an email with how you accomplished the whole adoption process that would be neat to look at.
Congradulations on the adoption !! :)
Thank you for your reply
