I recently recieved a letter from the Dept of Social Services after I wrote requesting identifying information on my two birthsons. In the letter it stated that "Birth parents and adult birth siblings may apply for disclosure if the adoption was finalized on or after July 1, 1994 and the adopted person is at least twenty one years of age." and that my recent letter will be "included in their record so they will be aware you are interested in having contact with them." All of this started in 1984 and was most likely finished before 1994.
So I will continue to search in hopes that they are also searching for me.

Ya know I live in the state of missouri and they wont give me anything but the non identifying info. They said that legally they cant do this. I think that the state should have to contact the adoptee or birth parent letting them know we are looking for them. I was born in Portsmouth Virginia on the navy base and adopted in missouri. I dont have a clue how to go about searching for my paretns in Virginia. I have tried everything in the state of Missouri and i am getting no where. I am in the process of hiring an attorney. This is my last resort. Good luck to everyone.
