Thanks for all the congrats on finally getting the dossier ready to submit. ;)
Seriously, tho, I only have one complete dossier. Did you make phohtocopies of yours (including the apostille pages) or did you have a "real" 2nd or 3rd copy ......oh heck let me ask a different way
How many official dossiers did you make?
I know when you photocopy apostilled or certified stuff "VOID" shows up across the page (at least my state's stuff does), but I don't want to pay double for have duplicate originals of anything if I don't have to.
Please tell me I'm not screwed because I didn't get original copies made of all our documents (notarized).
Thanks,
Robin
Robin, we just had one set of dossier papers apostilled. Then we made copies of each document, including the apostille, the notarization, and in Tennessee, we are required to have the notarization certified.

First we obtained the certified documents (straight from the county dept. of health, for example)....3 copies of each. All of these had an official county notarization (or just a notarization from a grocery store--for example, on our reference letters from two people who know us and recommend us as adoptive parents, known as "sworn statements").
Then 1 copy of each of these docs was sent to the state for the apostille (to be put into our dossier).
The 2nd set of certified docs was given to our homestudy agency (for the homestudy).
The 3rd set is going with us to Panama, just in case the judge wants to see anything or keep a notarized copy of it as an example (as suggested on the US State Dept. adoption Web site).
So only one set had the apostille--for the dossier.

P.S. If you MIGHT switch countries at some point (giving up on Panama), putting two dossiers together would definitely save you time. So that is a thought.
Thanks, guys, for your input.
I just heard back from my caseworker and she said just to make a photocopy of our dossier to carry with us. I feel better. I was working myself into a panic again seeing how we're leaving Sunday to go to the capitol. You know me! LOL
We will never switch countries. I think we'd try fertility treatment again (and/or then go childless) if we can't adopt a Panamanian baby.
Panama or bust for us! hehe
