I really love K, thank goodness. Last night we spent the night in the ER and were admitted to the pediatric unit. K had an asthma attack, his first ever. No family history of it or personal history of it.
They discharged us this evening with a nebulizer and an oral steroid.
What should I expect with moderate asthma?
an update on his lack of control: It turns out he was afraid to see his brother and thought he'd be visiting with him more. Just took him a while to finally tell me.
Anyway, last night K & I bonded. I had no other choice than to bond. Dh was at home with M (divide & conquer). Anyway K liked the attention and asked about M & Daddy. Apparently at home M didn't ask about K at all and when Dh mentioned K M made a really mean face and said I don't want him. It looks like we're heading into some sibbling issues now. As swiper from Dora the Explorer says, "OH MAN!"

I feel for you having a little on on steroids. They make my little one less than a joy to be around. I hope it doesn't affect him too much.
You could check out Ed's Asthma Track. They have a message board like this one that is filled with helpful mom's of asthmatics.
Did they refer you to an asthma doc? If not, perhaps the pediatrician would consider putting him on preventative meds. My daughter has been on Singulair since she turned 2, and her asthma is finally under control. She was a very sick little girl earlier - hospitalized 9 times.
The key to controlling asthma is finding out what triggers the attacks. I have 2 daughters with asthma. One is triggered by viruses and too much running. The other is triggered by all sorts of things - just about anything it seems. She is the one who needs a preventative med.
If you have specific questions, I would be glad to try to answer or at least share my experience.
