Brand New...doing some research before I get started

Hello everyone! I just stumbled on this forum today and have been reading for hours...there certainly is a lot here. I'm brand new to the process meaning I haven't done anything yet. I appologize if this is already somewhere and I just missed it, but would anyone be willing to give me some pointers/guidance/advice/referals to good information sources? Here is some basic information that may be helpful for you to know: *I'm 27 years old *I've been with my partner for 7 years *We are a gay couple *While we have lived together in the past, we have lived apart for the last 2 years (due to work) and are just about to begin living together again *I will be relocating in a few weeks to Monroe County, PA (Stroudsburg) *We both work full-time (my partner works in the building he lives in and I will be commuting 40 minutes one way into NJ) *We don't have a lot of disposable income although we started a "Baby Club" (like a vacation or Xmas club account...each pay a little comes out of both of our checks and goes directly into this special savings set aside for the adoption.) *We're open and flexible about the type of child we adopt, although our preference would probably be a boy under 5 *My partner is required to live where he works and as a result, it is a very small apartment (2 bedrooms, although you have to walk through one to get to the other) I'm not sure what else may be important to consider. I can't remember not wanting kids and my friends all say I'll make a good Dad. I'm anxious to begin the process, but realize it will take time for me to settle into the new area, new job and then to work through the process. I'd welcome any feedback you could share with me and would especially be interested in anyone in the Stroudsburg (Pocono) region who may be willing to mentor us through this process.
