We are adopting a little boy that will be two in September. He has been placed with us as a foster child for almost one year, but the final adoption will be in august and we want to have big party with all of our family and friends to celebrate the new beginning for our family. I am not sure what type of party to have, a theme, food, and party ideas would be great help. :D  any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
WOW, I was hoping people would respond to your post because it's such a good question! We are trying to plan one for our twins and it's kinda hard! We want it to be a little 'different' than a bday party, but how? We thought to maybe have 2 sides to the party....make it really fun for all, but maybe do a kids BBQ in late afternoon, then perhaps steaks and such for adults a little later. OR maybe combine it with Pot Luck, so we are not so tied up as the hosts and we can enjoy and show off our boys!;)
If it's nice out, perhaps throw the sprinkler out on the lawn, have people bring a chair or two, and kick back for a bit....
A Piniata maybe? I don't know...what have you got so far?....:p
Maybe a bump will help here....

How about renting one of those inflatable jumpy things? If there are a lot of kids of various ages coming, it will be fun for all of them! We also have our repsite care worker agreed to come and help us with the twins...so it will give us a bit of free time with the adults, knowing they are in goods hands and being watched carefully.
Dollar store for decorations and streamers and such.
Buy one of those 'sun tents', or something for a bit of heat shelter....I even have a 'mister' type sprinkler that could just be on for a quick cooling off without really getting wet....
Any new ideas on your end?
Anyone else?
