How Do You Know?

I was wondering how you really go about initiating a search? I live in CT. My son was born on June 3, 1981. I "relinquished" him on July 2, 1981. The adoption process was handled through Catholic Charities and the City of Danbury Court. I have been doing a lot of research only to find out that many childrens birthdates were altered, the children could be adopted out anywhere in the tri-state area and much of the information called "non-identifying" information has been altered or changed. I have been doing so much research lately and I am horrified at the thought of giving my son up and thinking that he didn't have the great life they promised me he would. Some of the adoptees on these boards seem angry and grew up in less than loving homes. I feel like I am literally looking for a needle in a haystack. Are there any successful reunions of adoptions handled through this agency? I am confused even though I have gone through all the links posted. Please help, Thanks-Dawn
