My mother n law has got custody of her 11 year old grandaughter and has been trying to get child support from her mother for 2 years and the family services told her the only way to get child support was to adopt the girl, but the only thing is my mothe rn law has been sick she is 59 years old her husband is 70 and I was maybe wondering if anybody knew anything about how they would be able to go about it, please e mail me
If you adopt a child, then you will not get child support from the mother. The parents rights are taken away and they will not have to pay anything, ever. The person who adopts them is the one who will provide all of the financial support. You can apply for medicade and financial help for the child, even if your income is too high for you personally to receive it. (if the child is NOT adopted) They usually go on the child's income. If you adopt, you loose everything.
