I have heard back in the 50's 60's that birth Moms usually didn't name their children they put up for adoption, the nurses did. is that true??? why would the agency tell you that. what do you think?
My husband was called "oliver" which to me is an orphan name.
I have heard from a friend of the family that it was his birth name. I have also heard that the nurses just called him that.
From the nurses side I'm sure it's hard to keep calling babies "baby jane doe" or "baby john doe"

I was told it was best I did not name him.. I was also told it was best I did not see him.. I was just to pretend him away.
They drugged me for the delivery.. First they gave me valium to calm down and then when I fell asleep they put me under.
I came out of it in the ward..
I had a secret name..
I did not think I had the right to name him. I do not know if it was shame or that I was convinced that it was not right to name him.
