We have just received a contract for adoption and are considering having a lawyer review it. My understanding are that these contracts are standard. Is it critical to have a lawyer review it? What is the risk if we do not have a lawyer review it?
If anyone has any experience or advise on this matter, I would very much appreciate your opinion.

Hello,
I can give you an attorney POV for your question, but not legal advice.
Adopting a child is one of the most important decisions you will make for you and your spouse(?). This is also a huge decision for the child you may adopt. Take the time to make sure you, or your soon to be child, is not at risk for anything from your agency; make sure your family's rights are protected
If you have a contract and are unsure about all or part of it, seek legal advice. Yes, attorneys are expensive, but spending some money now might save huge sums later.
In any event, good luck.
