Reunion! WOW!
Searched 33 years!
Our reunion has been so wonderful. There are really no words to express how we feel.
We found Johns birth mom on Sunday, August 15. We left for MA on Monday night. We arrived in MA on Tuesday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m. JohnҒs Aunt Carol met us at the door and embraced us with open arms. We went in and Joan was standing in the living room crying. She hugged me and said thank you, thank you so much for making my dream come true. John got to see and hold his mom for the first time in 51 years. John and his Aunt Carol look like brother and sister. There were no awkward moments at all. It was like he had been gone on a vacation and was finally home. When John walked in, he said hi mom Im home! We could not have written a better reunion. We found out who his birth father is. We found out the reason she placed him for adoption. Joan told John, there was not a day that went by that she didnҒt think about him, wonder about him, miss him and love him. Let me describe John to you, he is 63Ҕ, blue eyes, has long hair in a pony tail, wears blue jeans, black shirts, boots, has tattoos. His brother Bob walks in, Bob is about 6Ғ1, blue eyes, has long hair in a pony tail, wearing black shirt, blue jeans and boots. He road in on his Harley Road King. John has a Harley Road King. His other brother showed up, Steven. They favor each other also. We showed baby pictures and growing up pictures. The family resemblance is very strong. His Aunt CarolԒs son Matthew showed up and he looks like Johns son. When we went to take some pictures the first night, John asked his brothers if they are ok with all of this, and before they could answer, Joan said, it didnt matter if they liked it or not, it was her decision. But the guys all said they thought it was great. John and Bob bonded instantly. No one had a problem with it. They all knew about John. His Aunt Marion came down from NH the next day. We talked to his other 2 aunts and if I was told once, I was told 1000 times, thank you. We stayed from Tuesday until Friday. Carol welcomed us into her home. We stayed with them the entire time. They made us feel so welcomed. John asked Joan what she wanted him to call her. She said you can call me whatever you are comfortable with. You can call me Joan, Ma, mom. She said I wasnҒt a mother to you, I didnt change you, feed you, or do the things a mother does for her baby. So call me whatever you are comfortable with. John told her you did the most important thing you could do, you gave birth to me, that makes you my mom. So needless to say we are all crying, John asked his brothers how they felt about him calling Joan mom, they said thatҒs who she is, shes your mom. We found out that Joan did not have him baptized at the church where his certificate says. His foster mother lived in Canton, MA and didnђt know how to spell his last name, that is why it was spelled wrong on his baptism certificate. It was a wonderful trip. So much more happened but this is already long enough. Thank you to all of you for everything.
