NJ's thread has been quiet for some time now...is nothing going on in the Great Garden State (LOL)
MY DH and I just passed our Homestudy (through Family Options in Red Bank). I am 43 and he is 39.
We have our profile consultation and set up scheduled for Sept. 13th. I also contacted my OB/GYN as she told me she works in some clinics and runs into bith mom's interested in adoption.
We are excited about this new venture..anyone else??

I also keep checking the NJ thread - glad to see
somebody's been busy and has news to share!
Congrats on completing your home study! I have
a friend who is currently "waiting for the call" through
Family Options.
DH and I have adopted 2 kids - both through private
adoption, but we did check out Family Options when
we were starting the process for the 2nd but ended
up signing up with an attorney instead. Lately
we've been busy potty training our oldest - she turned
3 in June and wasn't even interested in using the potty
until the beginning of August, but has been doing
great once she put her mind to it! She starts preschool
next month (I'm going to miss her!) but I don't think
the school says they have to be trained, but I never
explicitly asked, either.
The adoption of your youngest should be final in October.
She's almost 9 months old now and already cruising the
furniture - probably trying to keep up with her big
sister!
Have fun putting your profile together, and keep us
informed!

Hi Sandy...
Sounds like you wonderfully have your hands full. I have a (just turned) 8 year old daughter (from a previous marriage)..but I clearly remember the younger years (and sometimes long for them again).
Do you mind if I ask which att'y you used and how ling your wait was for your children?
Thanks so much

It sure has been quiet here.
I keep popping in once a week and still no posts. Good to see there are other new jersian's out there.
I am currently working with adoptions from the heart. I am in the waiting stage, just waiting for that call. I've been waiting officially since march 04.
The waiting sucks. I've had a couple of showings, but not picked yet. I think that the showings are aggravating too because you hope you are picked, then when you get that call that you are not, it is disappointing. It is just like when you get the call form the infertility clinic that the IVF didn't work this month.
I have 1 biological dd that is 5. She just started kindergarten. I thought I'd really miss her, but I enjoy those 2.5 hours home alone. She loves school also. She get so bored at home with noone but me to play with.
Well that is my story.
Good talkin to you guys

Hey there...
We just finished creating our portfolio and it should be active this weekend,
]We are working with Family Options in Red Bank. They do not tell you when you are being s shown, for exactly the reasons you stated.
But not knowing can be just as aggrevating and knowing and not being chosen.
We're also going to hit the local colleges, hospitals and even grocery stores..we were told we could hang out Dear Birthmother letter on the bulletin boards.
I too have a dd (biological from prevous marrige). She is 8 and just starting 3rd grade...amazing how time goes by so **** fast..I hate it!
Let's keep in touch

momofrose and kinnj:
Good luck to both of you with your "showings"! I know
the wait is excruciating, but well worth it in the end.
My oldest started preschool last week and loves it!
It's so weird not having her underfoot all the time,
but now I can spend time with the 9 month old without
feeling guilty about not playing with the 3 year old.
And the potty training is complete and successful - no
diapers even at night!

We are also waiting in NJ. Had our homestudy through Family Options. We adopted our son three years ago and have been matched with a pbmother who is due in November. We have been matched with her since June, and it has been a long wait. We had a failed adoption last April after being with the pbomother for six months. It has been a really long year. We will have been working with a pbmother for a year come November. (Two different women). We are also using a private attorney. Just wanted to say hello and wish everyone luck.
I am sorry..but what is a pbmother?? Is that Private Birth mother?
Did you adopt through Family Options..or just have your homestudy done through them?
I know they have a ew Birthmothers that
they are working with right now...it will never happen as quickly as we would like it too though.
Best of luck with the adoption of your second child!!!
