I have a biological child who is 3 years old. My husband and I started trying to get pregnant last year again. I had a miscarriage around Christmas and afterward found out that the chances of getting prenant again are almost impossible (my FSH level is too high).
Rather than go through infertility treatment (which probably won't be effective for me), we have decided to adopt.
We are trying to decide whether to adopt domestically or from Russia.
If anyone has any information about potential adoption agencies, I would really appreciate any information (good and bad) that you can pass on.
My family and I live in California.
Thank you.
hi, we arent really able to post the names of agency's with our opinions, something about liability. but i can tell you my expierence with our agencies and then pm you the names if you like.
we went private, domestic, and i Absolutley Love our primary agency, they have 3 offices in cali and are lisenced in 5 states so your networking pool is much larger than if you just went with a cali agency. they network natiionwide. they offer Lifetime counseling for all bparents, their families and aparents and their families. the fee is based on your income. our adoption took 22 mo from start to finish. we now have a beautiful 7 mo old daughter thanks to them, and are completing the paperwork for our second adoption with them. i have heard of some people not being so happy with them, but have never heard any specific complaints and what i have heard ends up being 'sour grapes' in my opinion.
we ended up finding our daughter in FL (which is a state they are not licensed in so we had to hire an agency in that state too) and this agency i WOULD NOT reccommend. they tried to charge us for things that had nothing to do with us and just kept adding money on to the bill, i felt at times like my daughter was being held hostage, "pay this or we wont finalize your adoption" kinda thing. they were Way too 'closed' for us, we have an open adoption and wanted it that way. i have heard of people who were happy with their service, BUT i know 3 people who feel the same way i do.
so i guess in the end you need to do your research and go with who you feel comfortable with, since i am sure you wont find any one agency that has made Everyone happy :)
hope i have helped and i will PM you the names of the agencies.
