Hi,
I am 27 yr old female born in king edward memorial, subiaco, perth 4th feb 1977 original name Shannon somethingerother.
I have a birth father out there some where who may not know about me although I am told he is listed on my original birth cert.
I have done an outreach to my birth mother who has placed both vetoes on herself and has not repsonded to the departments letter that was sent to her in Queensland.
My father I'm told was 20 whilst birth mum was 15. They lived in a town south west Western Australia. He was an apprentice mechanic and she still in school.
I have a hand written letter to Mr Bryant the solicitor on 19th Feb 1977 who handled the adoption from my birth mother supposedly, although I have my doubts that it was her who wrote it.
My grandmother who is also on the affadavit who I am not allowed to know becuase of the vetoes, was originally from Poland. She may still be in WA but I have no idea. Apparently they have a weird Polish surname. LOL which I suppose would make sense.
I'd just like to know the rest of my biological family even if my ** doesnt want to know. Thats fine but there are more people involved here than just her. Perhaps her husband might want to know or her children that they have an older sister somewhere.
I'd just like to know my biological family, medical history and story from the horses mouth, not the departments version. I dont see whats wrong with that?
So if anyone knows anything about this story, feel free to let me know.
Cheers
Sharon

Hi Sharon,
Do you have a copy of your birth certificate with the fathers name - as once you have that it is so easy to find him. If he didn't know you may have a whole new network of biological family out there. Also the solicitors name is another lead - should be an easy one to follow up. Do you know how - I would be happy to help if you need assistance.
Good luck,
Kirly

hi kirly,
thanks for your reply!
No unfortunately I dont have my original birth cert as my birth mother has put contact and info vetoes on herself which stops me or anyone else finding out anything.
Thankfully that all changes in 2005 when the freedom of information act comes into play and will allow me to get all the information that is around, such as birth cert, court docs etc
I do have the solicitors name and he is dead. THe solicitors company apparently sent all my docs to family court which now refuse to release anything, although they did give me the file number. Which doesnt help since I cant get access to it.
So until next year, I am at a loss. Which is why I started writing messages into cyber space.
I see your brother has a child out there somewhere. Is he looking?
Hi,
Yeh, my brother has cancer so I am searching high and low before it is to late. Just wish he had of told me earlier so we could have tried to approach the son - to think of all the wonderful times we could of had - hope we find him in time.
Are you in New Zealand or Australia? If in NZ did you try the library - that is were I got the boys name. They are so helpful. Try Emma.Turner@aucklandcity.govt.nz and as long as you have your name and approx year of birth (don't have to be that precise) they will give you the birth mother and fathers name. Worth a try anyhow. Did you try the freedom of information act to try and get your files released?
Kirly
hi again kirly,
o bugger, i think i pressed the wrong button for "post new message or reply" so it is again in case i got it wrong the first time with a few changes.
I'm actually living in perth western australia, and it could sound like your laws are different from ours....
I'm sorry to hear about your brother. It is terrible circumstances that have brought the adoption thing to your attention but you sound positive about the whole thing which i think is great.
I wish you the best of luck in your search and hope that only good things come from your efforts.
and i just read some of your other replys to some posts LOL
man some people (not u, the responses you got) seriously need to lighten up.
good luck once again...
kind regards
sharon
