I am looking for 1/2 sister born in Lubbock, TX between 68 & 70. Our mother is 5'7" with light brown hair and Blue eyes (caucasian). I believe the adoption was handeled through Smithlawn Adoption agency. Birthmothers initials are L. C. T. and was born in 1949. If this sounds familiar or even close please reply.

I have learned that my mom had a daughter in Lubbock during the same time frame that you have listed. I too am looking for a 1/2 sister. The reason I was wanting to contact you is cause of the similarities in the searches. I would love to talk to you more about your half sister cause I am of the belief that my mom might have had other children that she placed up for adoption. What you have listed has made me wonder about the persons we are looking for. My email address is wakinglazarus@msn.com. Please contact me.

My friend was adopted from smithlawn in 68. Are either of your mothers from Pennsylvania? That is the only info she has on her birthmother.
I was born May 1969 - but in Amarillo handled through an Amarillo-based church of Christ adoption agency - as Smithlawn is. I just learned this last week after finally getting my redacted file (all id info blacked out - but everything else in tact) that my bm was divorced and had an older child when she placed me for adoption when she was 20/21. I wanted to post in this thread to just inquire to be sure you knew it was Lubbock/Smithlawn rather than Amarillo/High Plains (aka Christian Haven at the time) since same region and both church of Christ orientations.
Up until this point I was always told she was single and had no other children. She was around 20/21 when she had me. She was born in either 1948 or 1949.
I too am interested in joining with others in learning how to do sibling searches since they are often so much harder with out birth dates, rights to redacted info, etc. I am connected to a great group of searchers in Texas as well as an individual searcher who has found much success in finding birth families/adoptees -including much recent success with adoptions handled by Smithlawn. I am considering overseeing an adoption search database specifically for siblings searching for other siblings. Both of my brother's birth parents are deceased and had it not been for luck in the birth records books that he was in foster care long enough his birth was recorded under his mother's real name - he would have never found his siblings. They were looking for him but had no birth date.
