I called the dept of child services in my county yesterday and inquired about adopting a child thru the SWAN program. I just got a call back from them and they wanted to come over for an interview TOMORROW!!! I have NO time to clean my house today so I made it for next week. Does it usually happen that fast? I've made it very clear that we're not willing to foster unless it's a situation that will lead to adoption and that the child is no more than 2.
Have any of you adopted thru the SWAN program? How long does the entire process normally take?

Hi hopeful, My hub and I have been with SWAN for a year now! We just changed agencies recently, due to old agency was bad for not following up with us, and not good vibes between us! So we deicied to look into foster care, and this wondeful agency came to the house and gave us training, and we recently got approved for foster care! And we transferred our SWAN status over! Now I make it the point, I phone the worker under the child Im interested in, like are they on meds, aggressive, like pets, how long in the foster care and so on? Then I ask my new social worker to send my profile! And so far she has, so just sitting and waiting! It takes a awhile to find the right one! We said we are looking for caucasian up to age 12! So it depends on your agenciy and worker and your specific type of child!
Love to talk you anytime!
