:) I am new to this and have been reading a lot of the posts in this specific forum. I'm sure you can't begin searching for your child that you placed for adoption until that child reaches the age of 18, but I was just curious as to if an adoptee or birth parent ever made contact before the child was age 18? Can the adoptee search for his or her birth parents before he or she is of legal age?
I placed my son for adoption in August of 1988 and I love and miss him terribly....more than he could ever know or imagine.

Hi,
If an agency was used you can sometimes contact the agency and have them get a letter or note to the adoptive family to let them know you are concerned. I actually worked for an agency and contacted adoptive families before the child turned 18 years old. Sometimes the family would allow contact and sometimes they wouldn't. If there wasn't an agency used that probably won't be possible at all.
