I am searching for my birthfather, Alan Dean Ames. I am a bdaughter and I was born on 8/31/80. There are a few Alan D Ames in Minnesota and I need to know if anyone has any suggestions about contact. I have found one that fits 44years old (20 years older than me, which would be right).
Should I just write to the one I think is him? I'm just concerned that it may not be him. I did a search for my birthmom and we write back and forth fairly often. I'm mainly interested in medical/family history. I figure, if they both consented to letting me have access to my birth certificate, than he knew one day I could possibly find him, right?
I would just write or call him. My record search shows only one man in MN with that exact name, and age. Good luck.

Thank you for the reply. I wasn't really sure anyone would ever read, better yet, reply to my post.

If you are not sure it is him, I would write a letter to the address you have. Just say your name, and who you are looking for, and why. Then finish it with something along the lines of...If you are not the person I am looking for, I thank you for your time. If I have gotten the right person, I am really hoping to hear from you soon. -or something like that.
That way, if it is the wrong guy, they won't think you are wierd. :D
Good luck!
Tanna,
That's exactly the approach I was planning on taking, it's just hard to make the first step because I don't want to share all this information and have it be the wrong person, and then they have my address, etc. People are creepier than ever these days.
