I wanted to see if there have been any members who have had experience with Liberia Adoptions and their experiences.
I am considering going through Americans for African Adoptions (AFAA). EDITED TO REMOVE AGENCY DISCUSSION
Money is a factor for me because I started the adoption process with another agency for a Colombian adoption, just to find out that the waiting children that I was applying to adopt were also listed with four other agencies and others had applied for the same children.

There is a great yahoo group - Adopt Liberia - that can help you guys out a lot with the agency decision. We are also adopting from Liberia. I'd be happy to provide information about our experiences and about the info I have gathered regarding Liberian adoption and the facilitators that work there. Feel free to PM me.

We used WACSN to bring our twin dd's home. They have a website. Anyone who would like more information about our experience can PM me. We have a local facilitator in our area and have gatherings with other WACSN families about twice a year. It's great to see the kids together, some remember each other from Liberia, others (like mine) were too young. It's so nice to get together with other families that look like ours and have been through similar experiences. I think we're around 15 to 20 families now.

My husband and I are working directly with an orphanage in Liberia that has 53 children ages 5-14 and we are using an agency just for the homestudy and post-placement. The cost is far lower than anything else we looked at and the children are adorable. If you are interested in more information, just reply and I will send you my email.
My husband and I are about to apply to AFAA but are intrested in taking the independent route....Please let me know of your experiences!
