As the Senior Administrator here, I have had the chance to play with all of the new features of the new site, and have grown very fond of some of them. I will touch on only a few of them, even though there are many that deserve a mention.
Reputation
This is by far my favorite new feature. What is it? It is a way for you to see how reputable someone is while reading thier posts. When you read a post that you agree with, just click on the little Icon to add to persons reputation. See that attached images, that shows the two icons that I am talking about.
Why is this so cool? People who regularly post helpful things will earn reputation with the community. When browsing the forums for helpful information, you can easily tell who can help you the most, and who to avoid.
Unfortunately, because reputation starts today, there is no prior history of reputation, and we have to build it up. In a month or so, it will be really helpful, and you will see waht I mean, and why I am excited about this feature.
Quick Reply
This new feature will allow you to, well, reply quickly... There is an icon at the bottom of every post next to the "Quote" Icon that you click and it activates the quick reply section at the bottom of the page. You don't have to wait to load a new page, and can get around faster.
Why is this so cool? The underlying feature, is that the new forums now tracks what post in a thread you are replying to. The old forums considered that all of the posts in the thread were replies to the first post.
You can change your "Display Mode" to Hybrid, or Threaded to see the reply lineage, instead of the traditional Linear Mode.
I will list more great features later...
Someone tell me how to add a custom avatar as we were able to in the past. There is no option for custom avatar on the edit avatar page though it talks about the option.

Ok--HTML coding is off. That is a big bummer. Can you all turn it on??
HTML is turned off for a really good reason. If we turned it on, it would be a matter of no time before your user experience diminished. It would make it very easy for someone to change the entire layout of the page, and even post code that could infect your computer with spyware or viruses.
We will never have HTML posting enabled. It is to much of a security risk.
