Some observations:
When I was using my MSN browser, I was having the in-and-out problem a BUNCH. MIE was similar, but less so. Mozilla's Firefox keeps me IN chat the most without the in-and-out problem.
I have started asking those who have an in-and-out problem what browser they are using. So far, MSN and MIE are the culprits for this problem.
Just thought this might help look at security issues. :)

Update on that:
A user who was having an in-and-out problem logged off chat to go download Firefox at my suggestion (as a test). He is now stuck as good as duct tape within the chat room.

well, maybe, I am not the computer savy person everyone else is...but I am having probs with chat...I get bounced out on a regular basis...I am lost on most of the forums...sorry to sound so negative...but I do enjoy the chat..but am becoming frustrated...please help
Yikes...that sounded horrible...I am currently downloading the newest Java..will give it a go. Sorry for sounding so whiney...yuck...I'll keep plugging away...if there is any help on your end please, help...thanks

the Java download should help, if not, try taking the previous suggestion of using Mozilla instead of Internet Explorer. Some internet service providers do not support Java based chats and they don't like the way the cookies are called.

Sarah, just posting a brief reminder about the two B words we were talking about ridding chat of, especially considering one turns to stars (astericks, whathaveyou) here on the forums.

:) Thanks for the heads up on Mozzila-I installed and it works, but the sound disappeared on chat.
I tried 3 different browsers last nite, firefox, MSN, and explorer. the explorer worked with all the bells and whistles. I appreciate your response and am learning more about my puter as I try to fix this.
I also had a "duh" moment, didn't know to purge cookies til last nite...did that so, that could be a major problem too.
I enjoy the Mozilla! Thanks for pointing me in that direction! :)

Just a qustion about what's up w/ chat today? I froze and then it took me a HALF HOUR to log in. I actually forgot the window was logging in; I was cleaning when I heard the magic login sound.
Any idea?
PS - Thanks for blocking my favorite abbreviation. Chat feels safer now. :D

Our entire server network was rebooted and down for just under an hour. All should be ok now :)

We need more moderators. We need those moderators to be frequent users. I'm on a lot. I see many times when a @ would be really handy. And I've only seen one do their job 1 time.
