These children are absolutely beautiful! We've always thought we would adopt from Guatemala but I am torn with Romania, Russia, Korea and Guatemala!
Can you please answer my questions? Thanks
1) How much does it cost to adopt from Romania?
2) what is the average length of how long the process takes?
3) what is the general health of the children?
4) How old is the average baby if adopted as an infant when they come home?
5) How long of a stay is required in Romania?
What made you choose Romania?

Now would not be a good time to be looking at adopting from Romania because they are not allowing "foreigners" to adopt from there. I believe they are working on new laws which might make it possible for you to adopt an older (toddler) child.
I adopted a little boy from Romania and I could answer your questions about how much it costs and how long it took, but it wouldn't be very good information because we were caught in the moratorium that started in 2001. So in other words, it took longer and cost much more than we expected. He was very healthy, no problems at all. He was 19 months old when he came home and Romania allowed escorts, so we didn't have to travel there.
Good luck

Hello,
I saw your post about trying to decide which country to adopt from. We started to process in Oct. (Russia) and since I saw that was one of your possibilities, I wanted to write you. I would look at the Russian boards before considering Russia. It is a mess over there, and so many of us are stuck in the middle. Some people have referrals and can't travel, some have met their children and can't go get them. Russia is changing all their laws, and right now, agencies accreditations have expired. Russia is not even going to meet to discuss the accreditation until April, and who knows if they will make a decision then. Maybe later in the year things will be better, but for now, I would not wish this hell of "not knowing" on anyone. Good luck!
I was browsing the post and wanted to let you know my experience. I just brought home my son from Guatemala. It was a wonderful experience. The adoption took a little longer then expected because the courts were back logged. I started the process in the beginning of April '04, my son was born 5/11/04 and we brought him home 1/4/05. He was one week shy of 8 months. Can't wait to start the process again. Best of luck. Oh and he was very healthy and he had an awesome fostermom. We received photo's and heath update every month.
