Dear Parents & Professionals:
FRUA of NorthEast Ohio is presenting another topic on education on February 28th. FRUA is the largest national group for families who have adopted children primarily from Eastern Europe, with about 5000 members. In Ohio we are glad to have a particularly active membership and cordially invite you to join us for cultural exploration, exchange of professional information, family support, educational issues and making friends with other families and kids.

For any parent who is wondering how to navigate their child's educational environment, Gabrielle Spangler will have the latest information related to special education law and how it will affect your children. As the parent of a special needs child, she has been where you are, and can help guide you as you learn to become both assertive, and a team player, in obtaining the best educational placement and services for your child. She's also a great speaker.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) has just been reauthorized, and the changes may affect your child's services. New regulations go into effect in July 2005. Ms. Spangler can tell us what we need to know BEFORE we get into that next educational meeting! Nothing beats being prepared and knowledgeable as we try to advocate for the needs of our children!
We hope you take advantage of this opportunity!
